YMCA Invest in Youth
July 29, 2004
Muncie IN – The YMCA's Invest in Youth Campaign ended its season with a bang. The campaign, which is designed to fund scholarships allowing area youth and families the opportunity to participate in YMCA camps and programs, finished at 116% to goal for a history making total of $145,133.
Richard Crist, Rutter President and Co-Chairman for the Invest in Youth Campaign, saw this as a great opportunity to give back. "This is an outstanding event and our hope is to make every year a record-breaking year allowing even more young people and families to take part in the enriching programs provided by the YMCA" said Crist. On April 20th, Rutter helped support the Invest in Youth Campaign by sponsoring a company luncheon in which employees donated food and all the proceeds went to the campaign. It was good food, good fun for a good cause. Along with Richard, his assistant Amy Gibson, Brent Close, Director of Operations for Rutter Communications and Tom Simpson, General Manager of Rutter Media, took on leadership roles in the campaign. Gibson designed and updated the progress tracking system for the campaign. Close was a team captain while Simpson was a division leader. Simpson organized a "Drive for Kid's Sake" promotion with several area car dealers, which brought significant awareness to the campaign and generated over $6,000 in contributions.
Because of the generosity and support of the community hundreds of youth and families received scholarships to the YMCA.
